A classic comedy Drama with a pinch of thrill. Jen’s husband, Ted, died in a hit-and-run, and she is trying to find the killer. Jen runs into Judy in her grief therapy group, and they both end up sharing their loss. With exemplary steps, their friendship blooms, and they become best friends. The story keeps gripping you as it starts unfolding itself. The director maintains a dry, sarcastic tone that makes the gruesome bloodletting almost comical as the film gets increasingly violent and intense. Jen slowly learns about Ted’s dark secrets, and Judy keeps her dark secret, which is a big plot turnaround. The connection, chemistry, and friendship that Jen and Judy have is the best part of this show.
The plot revolves around two best friends, Jen and Judy, who meet at a support group after suffering the loss of their partners. Jen’s husband died in a hit-and-run accident, whereas Judy lost her fiancée to a heart attack. Despite their contradictory personalities, the two protagonists bonded over wine and shared likeness for “The Facts of Life.” Where Jen is hell-bent on finding her husband’s murderer, Judy tries with all her might to prevent her friend from knowing the truth as it would drive a wedge between them.
Jen: Christina Applegate, starring as Jen Harding, is a realtor whose husband dies in a hit-and-run. She is portrayed as a skeptically humorous character whose cynicism adds flavor to the show. Apart from the comical aspect, she also exhibits an obstinate side by refusing to give up on finding her husband’s murderer
Judy: Linda Cardenilli gives a sporadic performance as Judy. She will always be with Jen and relax her when she reaches a breaking point. Judy is the spokesperson that usually has the final say, and she is the one who points out the logic and common sense behind it all.
Liz Feldman directed the show and composed and executive produced alongside Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Jessica Elbaum. This Tv show is to be produced under G.S Productions, and CBS Television Studios were scheduled to participate in this series’ co-production.
The show was in progress under the title “Dead to Me” since way before, and it later got picked up by Netflix on April 12, 2018.
The bewildering chemistry between Jen and Judy had viewers glued to the screen. Despite their personalities being poles apart, the two struck a relationship that was greatly admired. Where Judy appears to be a lively and optimistic person, Jen is a mocking and cynical widow.
The savage and straightforward dialogues from Jen created waves of laughter amongst the audience. Despite the dark humor, the gush of emotions, the suspense in keeping the secret, and the thrill of solving the murder mystery were also appreciated by the masses.
You can watch the show on Netflix.
