Whilst HBO Max might well be a leading video publisher, sadly, some users do encounter an error message or subscription message telling them that HBO cannot verify their subscription.
This can happen due to a number of reasons, for instance, using a low-quality VPN, or subscribing to HBO Max third-party providers.
There are a number of ways to fix your “verify subscription” error message, depending on whether you subscribe to HBO directly or whether you use a third-party provider.
If you do subscribe to HBO Max directly, using a low-quality VPN can cause your account to have verification issues. Many streaming service providers such as HBO Max and Hulu blacklist VPNs by blocking the IP address associated with the VPN.
This can be resolved very simply by pausing on uninstalling the VPN you are using or by installing a higher-quality VPN. VPNs that tend to work with your streaming services include Nord VPN and Express VPN.
If you pay for HBO Max through a third-party provider, you may need to change your VPN, but the issue may also come from the provider itself.
One fix that seems to solve the verification issue in most cases is to manually link your HBO Max account to the ISP. This will directly solve the issue; however, it is quite an annoying process though:
Create a new account on HBO Max directly;
Once this account asks for payment, make sure to cancel the account;
Once you have cancelled the account, choose a video to watch;
When you select a video, you will be asked to subscribe to HBO Max;
Click the link which says already subscribed;
You will then be directed to a page where you can link your existing HBO Max account to your provider account;
This should solve the HBO Max login problem.
Alternatively, you can solve the issue through the service provider you are billed for HBO Max through, either by requesting your access ID or troubleshooting as described below.
If you are an AT&T user, certain plans, such as the unlimited elite plan, give you access to HBO Max. If you are struggling to verify your HBO account, you may need to check that your HBO Max plan is set up. To do this:

When you sign in using for the first time, then:

If your Xfinity password has been reset or your parental controls are blocking HBO, you may need to reconnect your Xfinity Box with your HBO Max account. To do this:
