A price hike on Disney Plus again? Well, maybe! At the beginning of 2021, Disney Plus raised the price of its streaming service for those living in the US. It’s much the same story for those in the UK, Canada, and Australia. For a relatively new streaming service, the price hikes came as a surprise to many.
But will there be more increases? Well, it’s hard to be sure.
But don’t worry; we’ve clarified every little thing you need to find out about the Disney Plus price change, and we’ve even given you a secret hack to be able to access Disney Plus for cheaper. Spoiler alert: if you sign up to Together Price for free, you can share your Disney Plus subscription and save money!
Disney Plus is the online service to stream content related to everything Disney and is a leading digital publisher. Only launched in late 2019, Disney Plus has grown exponentially and is every bit as worthwhile as other streaming services, including rival Netflix.
Old and new subscribers can watch everything Disney with Disney Plus. That includes access to all the Star Wars movies, everything from the Marvel cinematic universe, High School Musical, Toy Story, the Disney Channel, National Geographic and much, much more. With many of your favourite blockbuster movies, Pixar films, even original programming and new movies, Disney Plus has ad-free access for anything you might possibly want to stream.
With a Disney Plus monthly subscription or the slightly cheaper annual plan, subscribers can access offline viewing, have unlimited downloads, and stream online on up to four devices simultaneously. That means whilst you watch one of the new Star Wars shows, your partner can be watching the Little Mermaid next door!
You can stream Disney Plus using Dolby Vision for that highly detailed, exclusive home cinema experience. Disney Plus is also accessible on all your favourite devices, including the Apple TV, Samsung Smart TVs, Android phones, IOS, your gaming console, and many more devices. This means you and your friends can really make the most of your simultaneous streams from any place you want!
With the Disney Bundle, users can stream Hulu and ESPN Plus, meaning that you have access to live TV and a huge range of other TV shows and movies not available on Disney Plus.
So if you want to watch films like Jungle Cruise, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, or any of the other MCU movies, or TV shows like Moon Knight, or your Disney Channel favorites, then Disney Plus is for you. Add to that the Disney Bundle, and you will be entertained for a long time!
Everyone is asking why Disney Plus has increased its prices after being around for less than a year and a half! And here is the simple answer.
Disney Plus has expanded considerably in the last couple of years, and they have raised the prices to support the creation of Disney Originals to support the expansion of its streaming services.
Disney has recently launched a new strand of programming called STAR (only available outside the US), aimed toward a more adult audience. This means there’s so much more to watch, like, for example, a library of new box sets from over 75 shows and around 280 movies, including Disney Originals. Don’t worry, you can watch this in-between watching Marvel studios movies and the Disney Channel!
Whilst nothing is set in stone, it seems likely that Disney Plus will raise its prices again soon for new subscribers. Recently CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek, announced that Disney is feeling quite “bullish” about price hikes - suggesting that as they invest more into the content available to Disney Plus, they are able to raise the amount of the monthly price and the annual plan.
That said, Disney will shortly be launching a new ad-supported plan. The ad-supported version of Disney Plus will be cheaper than the ad-free version and will supposedly only run four minutes of ads per hour of content. That is far less than its other competitors, including the Disney-owned ad-supported Hulu plan.
Here is the complete detail of how much a subscription costs to get access to all your Disney favourites, including the Marvel Series, National Geographic, Star Wars and more:
• $7.99 per month or $79.99 yearly subscription
• $11.99 per month or $119.99 yearly subscription
• £7.99 per month or £79.90 yearly subscription
• $11.99 per month or $119.99 yearly subscription
• €8.99 per month or €89.90 yearly subscription
Don’t forget if you don’t like their services, you can cancel anytime. If you bought the US bundle membership, the Disney Bundle, with Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN Plus, you would have noticed a price increase there too. The cost increased by one dollar to $13.99 per month or $19.99 per month for the no-ads version.
Disney Plus Gift Card also increased in price, matching the new yearly subscription costs.
Disney Plus had a seven-day free trial, but it doesn’t anymore. This is not quite as exciting as the free month’s trial available on other streaming services like Amazon Prime Video.
Verizon customers can get a free trial that includes Disney Plus on their Unlimited plans.
But nonetheless, there is a way to save up to 75% on your Disney Plus subscription even if there’s no free trial anymore.
