What is the storyline of Berserk Anime
The three movies are based upon an earlier version of Beserk, which is the Berserk manga. The anime is pretty loyal to the manga and sticks closely to the plot.
The story of Berserk is about Guts, a boy born from the body of his hanged mother. He is a skilled swordsman brought up and trained by mercenaries from a very tender age. After killing his adoptive father and guide in self-defence, he is forced to run away.
Years later, Guts’ reputation draws the attention of Griffith, the leader of another mercenary group of heinous outlaws called The Band of Hawks. Guts soon become Griffith’s prime fighter. The Band of Hawks is hired as the King’s guard to defend the Midland Kingdom in a century-long war filled with battles against a neighbouring Empire.
Guts discovers that Griffith is ambitious enough to want a kingdom of his own and that he uses a mysterious pendant as a hidden power. Griffith starts to mingle with Midland Kingdom nobility and meets the daughter of the King, Charlotte, while Guts develops feelings for Casca, a fellow commander.
Once the Midland war is won, Guts leaves the band. Griffith is devastated and goes down a rabbit hole of ruin. The Band of Hawks is arrested, and Griffith is tortured into a crippled mute.
In the meantime, Guts continues his training to become a better swordsman, but when he learns of what happened to the band from an entity he calls the Skull Knight, he returns to save Griffith and reunite with Casca.
To regain his previous condition, Griffith uses his pendant to transport the band into another dimension, where he trades his human form to become an archdemon of a group called the God Hand and gain inhumane power. To do so, he must betray and sacrifice all his fellow band members through an ordeal called the Eclipse. Only Guts and Casca survive.
Guts loses an eye and his left forearm, and Casca is so traumatised her mind regresses to a child-like state. Both of them have been branded for death and destined to be hunted by demons until their death. Guts leaves Casca in the hands of a trusted friend, and with a new sword named Dragonslayer and a prosthetic arm with a cannon built into it, he vows to take vengeance on Griffith.
Guts is named the Black Swordsman. As the Black Swordsman, Guts embarks on a journey to defy and stand up to his gruesome fate. On the way, he will meet some strange allies and face incredible danger on their seemingly endless quest for revenge.
This is a movie series filled with battle, violence and dark episodes.
