Spotify is one of the most well known music streaming services out there. With over 422 million users worldwide, Spotify has users on various subscription plans, many are content with Spotify free.
But if you want to get rid of those pesky ads, or add a new member to your account, maybe it is time to think about changing your Spotify subscription. And we are here to show you exactly how to change subscriptions on Spotify.
Before you upgrade to Spotify Premium it is important to consider your options. The big downside of Spotify, compared to competitors like Tidal and Apple Music, is that you cannot share your account with users outside of the household. So paying for a Spotify account can end up being pricier than other alternatives.
If you do want to save money, then why not try Apple Music or Tidal?
Using Together Price, you can share these accounts in a safe, secure and completely hassle-free, letting you access a huge library of great tracks for a fraction of the price.
The Spotify Premium subscription is the paid version of Spotify. This lets you listen to unlimited, ad-free music. Choose from a library of over 82 million songs, countless curated playlists, radio stations and fascinating podcasts.
Spotify Premium lets you listen to any song you like, use unlimited skips and even listen to music offline. Offline streaming is available using a desktop or mobile apps, so you can take your music wherever you go.
Create and share playlists with friends, or follow celebrities and musicians to see their favorite playlists. Spotify is the ultimate social listening experience and helps you discover new music and listen to saved music easily.
Spotify offers a number of premium plans that offer the same features. The only difference is the number of accounts that can access the premium plan:
The Spotify Individual Premium plan costs $9.99 per month and lets one account access Premium.
The Duo plan costs $12.99 per month and allows two premium accounts under one roof to access the plan.
The Family plan costs $15.99 per month and allows up to six accounts under one roof to get access to Spotify Premium. This plan also offers the option for kids’ accounts with parental controls.
The Student plan costs $4.99 per month and gives you access to Hulu too. Only students at eligible higher education institutes may choose this plan.
If you want to change your Spotify subscriptions, then you must use the Spotify website on an internet browser or mobile browser. You cannot change plans using the app.

You will be bought to a page which lets you browse all the available Spotify payment plans;
Select the new plan you wish to subscribe to or click cancel Premium if you want to return to the free plan;
Confirm you want to change plan;
At the next billing date, you will be asked to pay your new subscription costs and be able to access your new plan.
If you want to change your payment method, then follow very similar steps.
Navigate using the above instructions to get to the section under your plan;
Next to your payment information, select update;
Select your new payment method and input the correct details;
At the next billing date, your new payment method will be used to pay for your subscription.
There is currently no way to change your billing date. However, if your billing date is not on a convenient date, you can always temporarily cancel Spotify and use a free plan, then restart your Premium plan on a more convenient date.
One of the best ways to save money on your streaming subscription service is to share your account. With options like simultaneous screening or listening available on many subscriptions, this means that you can access the paid version without losing any of the perks of a paid subscription.
Sadly currently, Spotify only lets Spotify users living under the same roof share their accounts. When signing up for a shared plan, they ask you to confirm this. Therefore account sharing only works if you are also house sharing.
